Zeid and Candice read Michael Parenti’s “The Assassination of Julius Caesar: A People’s History of Ancient Rome” and find a humanized Julius Caesar who was a man of the people and witnessed the events that led to his downfall and the effects of a world without him – this time looking at Roman history from the perspective of the common person, not a tribunal of senators waxing poetic about their actions and fancies.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion
  • 4 garlic clove
  • 2 potato (Golden/Russet)
  • 4 oz roasted red pepper
  • 14.5 oz can of petite diced tomato
  • 2 oz of chipotles in adobo sauce
  • Salt Pepper
  • Oregano
  • Garlic and onion powder

Instructions

  1. Make a sofrito with chopped onion and garlic until they turn translucent
  2. Add roasted peppers and tomato and cook for 5 minutes
  3. add the ground beef and cook for about 10-15 minutes until beef is browned
  4. add remaining seasoning to taste and mix thoroughly then cook for 5 more minutes

Serve with rice, or in tacos
